NEWS ARCHIVES - DECEMBER 2006

December 31, 2006 - "Directed by George Hickenloooper from a screenplay by Aaron Richard Golub and Wonderland scribe Captain Mauzner, Factory Girl is generally more engaging than either Basquiat or I Shot Andy Warhol, but it’s also more problematic, stemming, to no small degree, from the creative battles reportedly waged over its hastily assembled final cut." More from Boxoffice

December 30, 2006 - "Dylan's got it wrong about my movie, says Sienna". Actress defends new film about Edie Sedgwick after rock icon adds to storm of controversy. More from The Guardian

December 29, 2006 - "He (Hayden) has a near-great scene when he's posing for Warhol's 16mm camera inside the Factory while looking around and asking if "this is where you paint your cans of beans," and at the same time clearly implying that Warhol is a selfish prick. For the first time in his brief career, Christensen doesn't seem to be straining for emotional intensity." More Hollywood Elsewhere

December 28, 2006 - "Coyly unnamed in the film, the famous, scruffy musician who temporarily draws Edie out of the Warhol orbit is clearly based on Dylan. If anything, though, the character, played by a charismatic Hayden Christensen, comes across as the sole voice of reason in Sedgwick's increasingly out-of-control life." December 28, 2006 - Factory Girl Reveiws just in! The good, the bad, the ugly. Discuss amongst yourselves.

Sienna Miller: A Movie Star is Born.

"There’s about to be a lot of fighting over "Factory Girl," the most troubled movie of 2006. But it’s getting a one-week Academy Awards-qualifying run, starting tomorrow in Los Angeles. If you’re out there, you shouldn’t miss it..... In the movie, Hayden Christensen, whom I’ve accused of being wooden in the past, does a great job playing a Dylanesque character named Billy Quinn. Dylan didn’t want his name used, but it’s him, right down to the harmonica. Dylan should be flattered. He comes across as hot stuff and never looked better." FOX NEWS

December 14, 2006 - "Bob Dylan is reportedly concerned that George Hickenlooper's Factory Girl suggests that he was responsible for Edie Sedgwick's suicide, which, as far as the film is concerned, is horseshit. "Roger Durling's Santa Barbara Film Festival (2.2 thru 2.12) has lined up Factory Girl as its gala opening night attraction, with Sienna Miller, director George Hickenlooper and costars Guy Pearce and Hayden Christensen expected to attend.
